  • 本日討論例句: If "the bee" disappers, people will soon follow.
  • 定冠詞的代表用法,將定冠詞加上單數普通n. 之前,表示該n. 所代表的種類,亦可用在樂器。
  • "the bee" is refering to "all bees", sometimes we can use the article* "the" to indicate a whole class of something.
    - *article 『文法』冠詞
  • the bee = bees
  • ex:
    1. "The shark" is a dangerous animal : "the shark" means "all sharks in general" .
    2. "The cat" is a very independent animal : "the cat" means "all cats"
    3. "The computer" has changed the way students do schoolwork.
    4. "The viloin" is difficult to play.
    5. I can play "the piono".
  • This usage does not work with person.
    The person means a specific person, however, you could use "man" to mean all people or you can simply say "people" meaning all people.

  • A: The first question is: What king of bee is good for your health?

  3. vital adj. 重要的,絕對不可缺少的
    ex:
    1. The sales department plays a vital role in our company.
    2. It is vital to get clean water and food supplies to this flooded area immediately.
